what temperature is your house at night and what does you child wear to sleep? and how old...

my 6 month old is currently just in a long sleeve onesie and light sleep sack. Right now, with the change in seasons, the room starts out at 75 then drops to 72. He is waking up at night (which he does anyways) and his legs are somewhat chilly when I change him. Am afraid of course of overheating as well. What do most people do for sleep?

Our house is in the low 60s at night, so we have supplemental heat in DS's room. He wears a fleece footie and a fleece blanket, which may or may not stay on. Probably started the blanket last winter at about 7-8 months. As the season cools off further, we'll add a onesie under his footie. I can definitely tell when he's cold as he starts whining eaaarly in the morning

my DD sleeps in a warmish set of PJ's and two blankets which she always kicks off and cries at night b/c she's cold....i'm debating buying one of those plug in fireplaces for her room (mini ones) b/c I know I get cold and I sleep with warm clothes and a down comforter.

65-72 degrees is ideal sleeping temperatures. Our upstairs is set at 68 year round. That being said, DD sleeps in normal cotton long sleeve pajamas with footies or socks, and a blanket (chenille). She is 21 months old.
DS sleeps in footed pajamas with one blanket, he is 2 months old. He generally ends up in bed with me half the night.

our temp is 73 but he is dressed a lot lighter...i guess i could make the house cooler but dress him in more layers. just concerned about SIDS (even though i know we are getting out of the riskiest period)

we have been having this problem too, OP.

DS is 8.5 months, and for the last few weeks we have been changing what he wears at night constantly. First he was in just a onesie and a light sleep sack. Then he was in footless PJs and light sleep sack. Then warm footed (not fleece) pjs and the sack, then back in a onesie, and now he's back in the footless pjs and the sack.

his room is around 72 degrees right now, but i know in the next few days it will get colder in his room. i debate getting a heavier sack for him, or using a heavier PJ.

We usually let the heat go down to 55 at night in winter. When our kids were infants, we made it 58 instead. But we dressed them warmly and put a baby-sized down comforter on them. But we come from Europe, where people believe it's healthy to sleep in cool air. (though in the summer we also use the AC less than others, letting it get to 80 at night. 78 in the day)

72 is actually an ideal sleeping temp.

Preschooler/toddler wear long sleeved PJs (toddler occasionally wears sleepers). Infant wears sleepers.

You could try dressing your child in a cotton sleeper plus the sleepsack, instead of a onesie and a sleepsack.

Usually it is about 66-68 degrees in our bedrooms. If it is around then, she wears a fleece footie, or regular cotton pjs/footies. If it is 40s or below, I will also put a onesie and maybe also leggies under her fleece. She uses my cotton baby quilt. I might also throw her afghan on top.

My mother just made her a beautiful quilt. The problem is that she took my old twin down duvet and made (a gorgeous) cover for it. So because it is down, it seems a bit too bulky for a 1 year old. So I am not sure if I will let her sleep under it or not.

62-65 degrees - 2 pairs of warm one piece pajamas with feet.

I also have a 6 month DD and I put her in the same thing as you -- a long sleeved onesie and a sleep sack, but i also put a light blanket over her bottom half. I know u are not supposed to do that, but oh well.

Holy cold houses!

My place sits around 68-72 at night in the winter. DS1, 3 yo wears cotton pj oats and either short or long sleeved shirt, depending on how cold it was that day. He has his blankie which he wraps up in, then sheet and fleece blanket.

DS2, his room sits around 70. If it gets too cool, I do have a portable heater for his room and the monitor has a sensor sensor so I know the temp I there. Warmer days, he wears a cotton footed sleeper, haven't had to put a onesie underneath. I also have footed fleece sleepers and in the dead of winter he will wear that with a onesie and possibly socks if I notice his feet getting cold.

Both my guys are hotboxes so cold was never a major concern.

Summer: 78 degrees with a ceiling fan on. 1 piece footed cotton pajamas.

Winter: 66 degrees. Fleece pajamas, fleece wearable blanket.

DS is now almost 2.5 years old.

68 in winter when the heat is running, up to 72 during summer and fall while we are running the a/c.

Right now, he is in cotton footies and a heavy sleep sack. It is 69 degrees. We use a light flannel sleep sack during warmer months and vary the base layer....long sleeved onesie and socks at minimum.

What? So you put on pj's and then another pair on top? That's seems uncomfortable!
