College Gardens?

Hello. We are contemplating a move from Kensington MD to Rockville MD. We are interested in College Gardens Elementary -- the IB program is appealing to us. I am wondering if anyone whose kids have attended College Gardens could comment on the school and their experiences there. I searched the archives and found a little bit of information but not much from recently. Thank you!

My children are finished now but had a good experience at CG. I can't really compare the IB program to what goes on a other ES's. The kids do get exposure to Chinese since IB requires a language. It is far from a true language learning class but they do get exposure. The school is quite diverse, has an active PTA, lots of after school activities. The building is only a few years old though the school is already crowded with portables. There is talk of eventually moving the Chinese Immersion magnet to relieve overcrowding but nothing decided yet.

Regardless of positives and negatives that you hear, the best thing you can do for yourself is to go visit the school principal, observe classrooms, lunch time, recess, etc... to get the best feel for a school. Seeing first hand will help to make the best decision.
