I just noticed today that my 13mo's teeth are a bright, solid white around the bottom edges, much more so than the rest of the tooth. It's sort of what plastic looks like when you bend it, how it's a brighter white. I'm wondering if they're damaged because she went through a phase where she was grinding the top and bottom front teeth together when they first came in (which wasn't that long ago, around 9 mos). She does it much less now but I still occasionally hear that grinding noise.
Has anyone else ever noticed this? Any ideas? |
My 2.9 yo has an overbite and has fallen and chipped both of his front teeth; they have the same bright white spots at the edges that you're describing. So I'd guess that your daughter's teeth are damaged, but they're baby teeth, so I wouldn't worry too much -- this is what our dentist has told us.
OP again: I'm especially worried because if they're damaged, that means she's done this to her teeth in only a matter of months. What about the next several years???
The white on the teeth is calcium deposits, it's totally normal and not damage of any sort.
7:39 poster - does this go away and does it mean I'm giving her too much calcium?
