Anyone know of a reputable dating site for larger people?
I have to accept that I am never going to be thin again. Even though I am still interested in men, and not bad looking, I think I put out a "stay away" vibe because even when a guy does seem to look at me, I think I must be mistaken, no way he could want me because I am fat.... Then I thought of the magic internet! I googled overweight dating and lots of links came up, but I am wondering if someone has experience with one or knows someone who does. Thanks! |

Don't do it!
Your post reminds me of this SNL skit - http://www.ebaumsworld.com/video/watch/122089/ You can find someone on Match or eHarmony! |

I don't have any specific website suggestions for you, but I just wanted to say - don't give up hope. I have a fair number of girlfirends who aren't remotely stick-thin (or downright chubby) and they have nice husbands. My sister-in-law is one of them; my brother is thin and hot and he fell for her. Plenty of guys aren't into skinny women, even if I'm sure sometimes it seems like all guys are looking for skinny-skinny girls. So hang in there. (p.s. I'm thin and it hasn't really helped me - haven't had a date in a year or a boyfriend in years.)

You seem like a nice person. I hope you find someone soon. |

How overweight are you?
Like 40 lbs overweight? Or more like 100 lbs? Over 100 lbs and you get a lot of men who have weird fat fetishes and the dating sites geared toward larger women are really for men like that. If you are ok with that, then dating sites that mention "B B W " (big beautiful women) are for you. I am about 30 lbs overweight and have met men on the regular dating sites but I know I am still considered "fat" by the standards for those sites. Meetup has actually been a good place to casually meet people because you meet in person. |
| OP, don't let the fact that you're overweight define you to such an extent! If people are thin, they don't find "thin websites" or something like that. You're a person looking for love and deserve it as much as anybody!!! |

Have you tried using a non-weight specific dating site?
Just make it clear through your pictures what size you are. |
| OP again, I am about 50 pounds overweight. |

OP, I agree with a PP: avoid the "BBW" dating sites....that seems more like a fetish thing.
If you want to try online dating sites, I'd try out a free one first, like okcupid.com You'll have to sort through more people since it's free. Would definitely avoid match: I've had a HORRIBLE time finding someone on there. Nearly every guy on there has a preferred body type as 'slim/slender' or 'athletic'. |
|
OP please don't do that. You'll get those crazy guys with fat fetish.
Go regular and be honest. Post a great picture of you and don't let your weight define who you are. I've been stick skinny and only had superficial relationships. Once I realized it was not worth it I let myself be happy, eat what I wanted, exercise as I pleased and be HEALTHY. When I was completely happy with myself that's when I met DH. And he loves every single fold of me

From experience, do not try a weight specific date site. It is a very bad idea. I would say the majority of men on there have a "fat fetish." I went on Match seven years ago. It was successful. We have a great marriage and he loves me no matter what my weight is.
One more piece of advice, love yourself for what you are and that will open those doors for you. I have been overweight my ENTIRE life. I had tried every diet from the age of 5 until 29. I was so unhappy with myself and suffered greatly with depression. But, I started exercising and became to really like the person I was/am. Once you accept yourself it will be easier to be open with another person. Good luck to you! I hope you find someone wonderful! |

Try plenty of fish - free and they have a lot of people. There is a choice of body types and you can choose BBW or you can just put up pictures. Way better than BBW sites.
I agree that weight and dating success are not related. I know lots of fat people who are happily married and lots of thin people who are single. |
