Did Footloose really need to be remade?

Seriously? Just looked at the photo gallery on the Post website and the actors in the new version look way too mature. They are advertising a lot on Hulu--I guess I must be in their target demographic based on the shows I watch there.

I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I hope it flops like crazy.

Also, explaining to DH (who is foreign) the plot of Footloose was fun -- he's a lawyer and thought it was the height of idiocy.

Footloose is a movie that made sense pre-internet. Now how they are going to explain the cultural isolation of the kids in the small town?

I think one Glee choral number of a song would have been enough.

True! I guess I could say this about alot of remakes but this one and Dirty Dancing bother me especially.

I agree. I heard its not a re-make, its actually a "Revival", just like they keep re-doing Shakespear in different ways. We'll see. I'm not sure they can top Kevin Bacon dancing in a barn though.

I never saw the first one. How I missed it I don't know... I was absolutely the demographic.

I'm with you. I've stopped admitting to it, though, because people are horrified. I've also never seen Heathers. Thank god for anonymous fora.

It was a moment in time movie, it just doesn't hold up now.

The scenes where the high schoolers are sneaking off to dirty dance, I'm sorry, high school kids just don't do that. I know high school was 15 years ago for me but we did a lot of gathering, standing around, drinking, etc., not dancing. Even at school dances - dancing was not really the main focus.

I think they should have tried to ban something like internet use or social networking in the town. Now that would have been more relevant to kids today.

Julianne Hough was on the radio this morning talking about how this remake is sure to touch everyone in some way.

Um, no. It will not touch every person in some way.

I'm a bit humiliated to admit that I once loved this movie . . . but would watch it again if I had a night alone IF no one had the chance of ever finding out.

Screw that. I love me some Footloose and I don't care who knows it!

I had no idea Dennis Quaid was part of this. Just watched the trailer. This is not a revival. It looks tired.

Oh I'll take it a step further here and admit that I LOVE Kenny Loggins. Still. Pretty much everything he's done.

Now I'm gonna go fill out that AARP form so I can be ready and get my card as soon as I'm eligible here in a few years.
