You guys don't even read the posts before posting. I grew up dirt poor (not from a trust fund!), saved and saved, got to a considerable point, and then had this 200k dumped on me. If you have a good work ethic, you really can save a lot. I shouldn't have even mentioned the 200k because 75% of what I have saved currently was my own before that. |

40, about $10M total.
Looking to get out soonish. Maybe at $15M. |
You need to acknowledge more the benefit of having the gift of a down payment. But beyond that, I think two things can be very helpful financially - getting married young and not having kids for a while so that you can save plus not taking out loans for grad school. |
Your insistence on not getting it is almost impressive at this point. "All I got was $200k, I'm a good saver" has now become "I shouldn't have even mentioned the $200k, I'm such a good saver." Keep harping on your work ethic; I'm sure that's the difference between you and people with less money. Not the fact you were gifted a house. They're probably just lazy! |
Thank you so much! I will take a look at it. We are now paying 3 tuitions, but this is very useful. |

That’s really good. |
| A pension is absolutely as asset. It is not necessarily a transferable asset- inheritance, etc. We receive approx 7,000 a month from our pensions. When one of us dies, we will receive approx 4500. So, yes, count in this with assets: retirement savings, house, etc. |
Ok, he has to have been in something really lucrative that most people are not doing. This isn't because you are savvy investors, come on. |
PP - yes, my husband twice invested in and ran leveraged buy-outs that were very risky on paper but he is really smart and I never worried about the risk because he would never risk what we couldn't afford to lose. But, regardless, we always were good savers and investors just doing the basics. |

We do but we have 300k+ in equity from a few years in our home. We have retirement and savings as well. Our net worth went up about 500k in less than 3 years so a lot can change from 33 to 38 for instance. |
lol. Googling! tell me more! |
