I'll take a "latte liberal" any day over a hypocrite con who virtue signals with his "family values" and votes against women's health or against LGBTQ rights while conducting affairs on the side either with a woman whose abortions he pays for or with a male staffer or someone he just met in the bathroom stall next to his.

Any day.

Wasn’t John Edwards a Democrat?

Her apartment building is not posh? Really?

As someone noted upthread, new buildings have all kinds of rent incentives. I've moved into new buildings, not for the amenities but because of the cheap(er) rent.

So you have rented apartments in DC with the amenities available at AOC’s building?

Specifically yes or no? Her building has details listed of said amenities and they seem more posh than most.

Yes, but Navy Yard is not a particularly posh place, so even if the building is new, it's not like she's living right on the Hiil or in Georgetown so her rent will be lower. And yes, newer buildings with more vacancies often have very good rent incentives (we got 3 months rent free in an expensive building so our annual rent was affordable even though our "sticker price" rent was high.

Ok understood but did your building have her amenities? Her specific building?

Last week, Democrats mocked President Trump for installing a new golf simulator at the White House — updating with his own money one originally installed by former President Barack Obama.”

Your building had these amenities? Many posters here are claiming they lived like AOC but won’t answer this specific question, so I suspect the answer is no.

PP here. No. Does that mean something?

I wouldn't pick Navy Yard, but I don't work at the Congress building. Would you?

So you admit her building is better than most in Navy Yard? Or are we stil pretending that’s not true.

And there are less posh buildings in Navy Yard that are close to her work but don’t have a Peloton studio on premises?

Get a life and stop obsessing about where this woman lives. Something about a young Latino woman achieving success and power touches a nerve for you, doesn’t it?

Am biracial Mija.

Also she can live in a hot air ballon mansion with a wave pool she sky dives into and is filled with champagne for all I care. I support Trump and he’s the king of gold leaf apartments and golden elevators and golden hair. So no, that stuff is fine.

“Ocasio-Cortez, commonly referred to as "AOC," repeatedly criticized luxury real estate developers during her campaign, claiming that their buildings hiked up rent prices and pushed low-income residents out of their neighborhoods.

We need to kick luxury real estate lobbyists to the curb and defend working people’s way of life,” Ocasio-Cortez said last March. “Skyrocketing cost of living is a national crisis that CAN be addressed. It’s not just an NYC issue - it’s happening in every US metro area.”

Ocasio-Cortez also promised not to take campaign contributions from luxury developers during her campaign. “It’s time we stand up to the luxury developer lobby,” she said in a speech last April. “Every official is too scared to do it - except me.””

But she’s actually joined them and is not fighting them, based on her housing choice.

Great find! The thing about socialist leaders is they never live like the masses

So how much is the rent?

The amenities are irrelevant if she's not paying much for them.

Well, the whole thing is irrelevant, but to address your points.

My head doesn’t have Whole Foods (where she shops despite running amazon out of NYC) or outdoor yoga classes.

Too bad for you. Maybe focus on living your own life instead of hating on others.

I thought progressives were all about everyone having the same simple life and taking money from the wealthy and redistribution to the poor?

Dcum rails against any rich republican constantly...but suddenly it’s time to live your best life when AOC is shopping at Whole Foods.

See? That’s American Socialism. All fluff. No substance.

Republicans: She's a socialist, so she has to shop at dodgy grocery stores.

She has to shop at the same type of shops most of her constituents in Bronx do. She claimed to be just like them, Alex from the Bronx.

I’m sure the people who lost thousands of well-paying jobs in New York because of the Amazon deal falling through would love to live in a nice apartment and eat organic. She is learning typical democrat ropes - do as I say, not as I do.

Exactly. That’s my thought. The people in NYC who need jobs could have worked at Amazon. But that’s not ok with AOC, get outta here Amazon.

But she will shop at Whole Foods because it’s nearby? Really? So 25,000 were denied jobs at Amazon b/c she doesn’t like them- but she won’t avoid them herself because of convenience.

She’s all about sacrifice unless it involves her making a bit of effort to shop somewhere Jeff Bezos doesn’t own.

Y'all are nuts. Pitying those poor souls not employed by Amazon? I think they'll be just fine.

Wow are you out of touch. I am from that area and have family there. A lot of people were excited for Amazon jobs and were hoping to be employed at Amazon.

Seriously out of touch.

Come on. Rich DC liberals know better what’s good for the working class residents of the NYC.

Yes. The SAHMs of DC know it all.

All of my NYC colleagues were against it, as were my NYC parents. My mother started boycotting Amazon and WF because of it. Their reasoning was that Amazon could make a real difference in cities that would need those jobs and after an exhaustive countrywide search, they chose....NYC and DC? Two thriving, basically recession proof cities that are also overly congested as is? They think that's BS.

You idiots really think she should “do the English basement thing”?!?!?!?
There are full on psychos out there. Some dude shows up at Comet ping pong locked and loaded and you all think AOC should just live the typical 20 something DC experience?
She fully needs to have a secure building, and possibly a driver.
Fox News is obsessed with her. How long before some nut job tries something?
She need to legitimately be concerned for her safely.

If you oversimplify and mischaractize opposing opinion, you can make whatever argument you want. Doesn’t make you credible, though.

She sure is standing up to them- by renting her luxe apartment from the them. What a joke you people are.

Rather ironic that she rents in exactly what she lobbied against for Queens [east of Queens is LI which has the MS13 problem]. Now her district is an easy commute to/from DC on weekends and some weeknights. Travel options:
- Amtrak- walk to Union Station-pricey Acela or NE Regional

-The Bus - cheap and one way is as low as $16

-Air- shuttle from Reagan

Acronyms for AOC=Agent of Change, Abnormal Operating Conditions.

Someone needs a refresher on anecdotal versus empirical data

The majority of the residents in NYC supported it. Just because your mom didn't doesn't mean anything

Nah, more like Tucker Carlson.

And hopefully NEVER like Rand Paul, or, God forbid, Steve Scalise.

There's so many examples of republicans being attacked but dems it's hard to narrow it down to a few examples

I think the fact that this thread went 14 pages is a good sign for AOC. She is getting a lot of attention. She has learned well. The more Fox talks about her, the better for her.
