The posters that keep asking personal questions as their thread, instead of asking for advice, like:
Do you fart? Are you attractive? What is your sign? Stupid. |
Posters who are just shocked and horrified - simply horrified! - when another poster curses. Seriously, people, it's the internet. If you are mortally offended when someone says fuck, you're in the wrong place. Ditto for those who believe that cursing that somehow involves religion should be taboo.
And posters who write "f*ck" irritate me, too. What possible reason is there for that? You know what you mean, we know what you mean - just say it. Do you really think it makes a difference because you omit a vowel? |
Unhappy people who blame everything on "this area" |
The poster who always chimes in with, "if you send your kid to public school, it must be because you spent all your money on fancy cars and big houses" |
Writing f*ck means instead of fuck is helpful, because it stops some filters from blocking the page. Not that either bothers me. And don't pretend you don't understand that "mixing curses with religion" is offensive because it is disrespectful to religion, not because of the cursing per se. Your way is not the highway - try not to be so arrogant. |
Funny that the posters here find something to complain about - within the complaints! I would say that is typical ![]() Is no one else concerned about the stalkers that know so much about so many posters? Aren't they supposed to be working or watching their children? How is it that they have time to criticize so many? |
You're saying that whether you're WOHM or SAHM, you should never have any down time? I'd find something else to worry about. |
Somebody got your number here? |
Yes! Especially when someone voices a complaint about the rude parent at school, or someone who cut them off while driving, or whatever . . . it's nearly always met with, "This area is filled with rude/self-centered/entitled/whatever people. Can't wait to leave and go back to [wherever,] where people walk on water, and never a harsh word is spoken." News flash - there are idiots everywhere. Even the sainted Midwest. |
10:20 - Most of the people I know aren't from this area. Most of the people who live here are not originally from this area. You know that right?
FWIW, there really are a lot of complainers, PP. Hopefully it is the same person. |
Oh, I understand it, I just think it's ridiculous. Not sure how I'm being arrogant, by the way - do you have a good grasp of that definition? They think I'm a disrespectful heathen bound for the fires of hell, I think they're oversensitive ninnys whose faith can't be that strong if they are so bothered by the exclamation, 'Jesus Fucking Christ," or something similar This is not specific to the religious, by the way - I think anyone who has a meltdown because someone said something "disrespectful" of *anything* on an anonymous internet forum is an oversensitive ninny. As I said, possibly the internet is a bad choice if you're that fragile. |
Scholarly articles start with a summary. What I hate is posters who still won't budge from an ignorant point of view even when presented with 10 sources of scholarly research. |
For a definition of "arrogant," check out what I've bolded. And yes, it's "arrogant" to decide, in your great wisdom, that somebody else is a "ninny" so you are entitled to be rude to them. Apparently you think you are *great* in your *own* mind, and bully for you. But as long as there are people who are offended, you are not entitled to use your self-proclaimed superiority to offend them. Now that I have your attention - why do you have to turn every conversation into a rant about religion? Are you that obsessed? I've noticed a lot of atheists who seem more obsessed about religion, if their internet behavior is any indication, than believers. It's funny to me. But yes, your "gotcha games," where you insult religion and then when some poor fool responds, you leap in with shrill cries of "over-sensitive!" are getting so, so, so old. And so, so, so predictable. Maybe we need a codename for you, like the Brazilian nanny above (FBFNFTM). You can be the Ranting Atheist Who Plays Gotcha Games (RAWPGG). But seriously, do you really want people to think all atheists are self-obsessed, arrogant five-year-olds? Wouldn't you rather present an image of atheists as being thoughtful citizens? Seriously, I'm deeply concerned about the image of atheists that you're promoting. |
So it's "arrogant" to think someone else is a ninny? OK then, guilty as charged. (By the way, this: "But as long as there are people who are offended, you are not entitled to use your self-proclaimed superiority to offend them." doesn't make any sense. At all. Please try to be a little more articulate.)
I don't - I just think that people who wail and rend their garments because an anonymous poster is "disrespectful," whatever the topic, need to get a grip. And perhaps a life. And I'm not an aethiest, if you read carefully.
First, are you under the impression that "anonymous" is all the same person? I wish I had the time to post as much as you think I do. Further, please point out where I "insulted religion." I don't believe I did, and if you think saying "Jesus fucking Christ" is insulting religion, I'm not sure what to say to you. And while appreciate your concern, I think posts on this board, and the state of the world in general, indicate that the image of the devout is more tarnished than that of aethiests. (See: Primary, Republican.) |
OK, it was just a little friendly advice. I figured you'd totally mischaracterize my points and call me names, and that's exactly what you did.
So no surprises there. And for the record, you can call me all the names you want, but at the end of the day I'm still a (democratic) national merit scholarship semifinalist, and you're still an arrogant loser whose main debating strategies seem to consist of twisting my words and ad hominem attacks. Bye, loser. |
