My understanding of Massie was that he was best known for opposing the invasion of Iran and for pushing for disclosure around Epstein.

I don’t think Americans realize that bills are rarely about what they say they are. Lots of questionable spending gets tacked on to well meaning bills. A true blue conservative is not going to vote for anything that earmarks money toward wasteful spending

Massie embodied the true "America first" which according to the ADL is antisemitism. His opposition to the Iran war and funding Israel was a reflection of that principle. Same goes for Charlie Kirk. The short answer is that Massie is a genuine conservative and doesn't care for all the pedophiles and rapists and big spenders in his party. So the Epstein class went after him hard, and since most Republican voters are clinical morons, it worked.

Agree. It's definitely the death of MAGA in terms of what it stated its goals and aims were - though MAGA has been on the slide into the toilet for a long time already. And it also exposes Trump's core campaign promises about things like "release the Epstein files" and "no new wars" et cetera as being total lies. Anyone still calling themselves MAGA at this point either has a poor memory and no critical thinking skills, or is a grifter with zero integrity. There's no other way to frame it that can ever make MAGA look good.
