No kidding. This cannot have been accidental. The US men's Olympic team and staff has no media training? They were clueless as the high level of political divisiveness represented by Patel? What a waste of a gold medal moment IMO, but it seems that this is what they wanted.

Then there’s also a Huffington Post writer who is offended simply by seeing the US flag so it’s not just one group of people making this political.
It’s also not like sitting US presidents haven’t called to congratulate gold winning teams before. It’s traditional.

Traditional, except for the women’s gold winning ice hockey team that the sitting US president didn’t call (or get patched in) to congratulate. That was less than a week ago.

He did not call them. What happend was Cash in the Locker room said to players do you want me to call the Prez, he did and on speakerphone he talked to them.

the five are:

Jake Guentzel - Tampa Bay Lightning
Kyle Connor - Winnipeg Jets
Brock Nelson - Colorado Avalanche
Jackson LaCombe - Anaheim Ducks
Jake Oettinger - Dallas Stars
One thing all five of those players have in common: They play on Wednesday night

"Thinking about the hockey moms that spent over a decade of their lives driving their sons to and from hockey practice and games just for their sons to grow up to become Olympic gold medalists who laugh at misogynist jokes at the expense of women."

So powerful and true. Each and every one of them should be ashamed of themselves.

Have we heard from any of the hockey moms?

Not a hockey mom, but I can speak for sports' moms. They are thrilled with the win and could care less about your hurt feelings.

I know a lot of hockey dads that talk and think like trump.....lots of maga vibes in hockey. SAD! They are always berating and yelling at their sons creating more toxic males.

I'm so slammed by this because of their mom - she works in player development for the women's team, then turns around and defends this under a pretense of coming together for the country. The FBI director has shown zero interest in the Epstein case where the victims and survivors were and are women!

She sadly doesn’t care and this is what her son had to say: "People are so negative out there, and they are just trying to find a reason to put people down and make something out of almost nothing," Jack Hughes told the Daily Mail.” He’s also very excited to see the president.

They think it’s a nothing burger. Beyond disappointing, especially for a women’s coach to have such a low bar. But, it’s her DS before the team, I guess.

Boys? Some of the players are pro athletes in their thirties. These are not boys.

Which is why they will never compare to the 1980 team.

Our neighbor Canada is our Russian enemy in that analogy? Stupid analogy.

Actually, due to politics, this year the US played the role of enemy/the bully and Canada was in the seat of scrappy underdog (politically if not athletically).

DYK why Kash did not attend the women's game?

The men won three gold medals in the life of hockey at the Olympics.

The women won three gold medals since 1998.

The women have been allowed to play hockey since 1998.

So, the women have won their three golds in less time than the men.

A woman, a silver medalist, trained two men on the US Team. Her sons. They are trash, I am sorry to say, if they laughed at the women’s team. They would have won nothing without their mom.

I even went to a NJ Generals Game when he owned that. Doug Flutie was QB, he did wrestlemania events, did tons of boxing matches in Atlantic City, had many PGA golf tournaments at his courses.

He is very well known in the Sports world long before even the Apprentice stuff and his run to be POTUS.

I recall Tom Brady got heat once about his relationship. He was like I got first big contract when young. I wanted to buy a condo in NYC. Who sells condos to rich people well he does, I got introduced, we had lunch, he invited me to play Golf at his course, I like Golf, I played with him I did not buy a condo from him but he gave me good advice as he knows real estate. So there it is. This is almost similar. Sports people have a relationship with him outside of WH. Because for over 50 years he hires athletes and even owned a team.

One football player he is friends with had played golf with him over a dozen times at his course. He was like I like golf, he owns a golf course like once a year he invited me to play golf with him for free, he buys me lunch for free at his club, we have a nice day. To be clear any Billionaire who owns a golf course I am available for free golf and lunch. I laughed at that.

You have gone way off topic to defend misogyny against US Olympic gold medal winning women.

A silly little joke is not misogyny. There are lots of examples of misogyny, but this is not one of them.

Except…explain the joke? What part of it is funny?

America is celebrating with the Women's Team USA and Flavor Flav in Las Vegas. The men can sit and be big dumb fascist props.

Minnesota. Good for them. But it makes the rest of the team's decision to support Trump even more disappointing. What a sad end to a great win. They're hockey players, but they should know enough to know that associating with Trump never works out well for anyone. Even Wayne Gretzky is despised in Canada these days because he is MAGA.

These hockey men are dangerous mysoginists.

We need to think about how to stop this toxic hockey culture.
