Add: W&M and VT are going to see a surge in applications next year. |
Back to the good ‘old boys. |
Not unless the admissions staff is forced out. UVA has an outstanding admission office, at least for now. |
Is Youngkin going to DOGE them? Replace with a bunch of MAGA cretins? |
Doubtful. But they might leave if they feel their ethics or professional reputation is at risk. They could go to a private counseling gig and double their salaries overnight or find a new university to represent. |
I have a class of 2026, white, high stats, full pay, private school boy and I am feeling pretty optimistic for the upcoming application cycle. I think it will be the best year for his demographic in 5+ years. |
It isn't going to change much of anything. |
Gross. |
Admissions removed race from consideration two years ago. Shouldn’t that demographic done better? The DOJ was concerned about programs and offices that worked with current students, not applicants. |
Why? |
I think so, too. Plus, those 2 schools have been investing a lot in infrastructure like new dorms and academic buildings. I’ve seen a lot of great students this year pick W&M or VT. I’m not sure if that is due to UVA’s rep for denying or waitlisting so many qualified NoVA applicants, or what. The political spotlight on UVA right now may further close the prestige gap between VA’s top schools. |
As if this demographic has ever had it so hard, lol. |
Not happening. |
VT already passed William & Mary and this could finally make it equal with UVa |
The "prestige" gap is really a ranking gap. If that doesn't change, there will be very little impact. Nothing else has really changed the ranking. Not the march or the murders. When Columbia was hurt in USNWR rankings, it was due to questions about the data they supplied, not due to any drama surrounding the school. |
