Patent Office RTO Predictions

I heard the SO is still telling her staff RIFs are coming. And Coke Zero has several times opined that the PTAB could operate with half as many judges. Only examiners are safe—and unaffected by RTO.

I think SPEs and maybe examiners might see I pay increase in the future.

At least for SPEs there should be a 30k bump over primaries.

And now it seems empty.

Must be many RA applications.

This is correct. The majority of the probationary employees are over 50 remote and this didn't hit them but there are employees as far away as Baltimore who are impacted and it's a huge problem for them.

Are your probies not covered by the CBA or is there a carve out that allows them to called into the office?

There was a separate MOU post COVID that's being ignored.

No more union? What’s that all mean? RTO for everybody?

They should make it like pre Covid, 12s get telework. Maybe only primaries.

Hope no one wants a Patent in the next five years. So many examiners live out of state and the job doesn't pay well enough that they'll move for it.

This administration (and Coke in particular) are not operating from any plan except to traumatize the federal workers. I do think that everyone within the 50 miles radius will be called in. You’re dreaming if you think it will only be primaries. No exceptions were made for any non-bargaining employees earlier this year. They will put Examiners five-to-an-office if they must, all because Ludnick likes it.

What do you mean by “only primaries”? Do you think everyone will be called back to the office…. Eventually??????

Good. Windows are for SPEs, then next priority are the primaries.

They are making us work ourselves out of a job. By October, I predict everyone within a 59 miles radius will radius will be RTO’d. And TEAP will be abolished; those folks will have to chose between returning to a campus or resigning.
