If B was 18+ and old enough to vote and drive, she was old enough to date men of all ages. In fact many states have lower age limit for marriage. California, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Oklahoma have no minimum age.

Give Solange some high heels, and let her take care of it, Bey.

Well, let's all hold Mississippi up as a beacon of decency and moral fortitude.

She was likely 16 when he started pursuing her. He's a creep. Even in Mississippi.

Why do you feel bad for Beyoncé? She knows who her husband is, she’s at all of these parties and she knows who his friends are.

She’s one of them.

All his celebrity friends should be demanding justice for his countless victims, but they won’t. Everyone knew and said nothing. They’re all in on raping children. All of them.

I actually thought his statement was good, and string, and convincing. Which surprised me. I went from being like “meh another rapist, no kidding” to being like “yeah he is right this sounds like a money grab”

I lean toward him being guilty, but yes, it was a pretty strong statement and gives pause. There has to be more to this story. I can buy the "feeling ashamed and not sure if she consented" angle for a college student. If that happened to my daughter at age 21 I would try to support her decision on whether to report the crime. If my 13 year old called me from a gas station wearing strange clothes and had been raped, no way I'm not taking her to a hospital and involving police no matter what she says. There's more to this story, if true... either the family is incredibly dysfunctional or Jay-Z's people used intimidation tactics on the family.

exactly, where were her parents?

Are you also wondering if she was dressed like she was asking for it?

It is more than reasonable for parents to know the whereabouts of their 13 year old CHILD.

There was a viral indie movie back then called “Thirteen” (?) about 13 yo girls sneaking out of the house and doing very adult things.

PP here. Wouldn't have happened in my mom's home!

Well good for you…?

I live in nyc and have 2 daughters, 12 & 15. They are both smart and independent kids, they take the subway and go all over nyc on their own to visit friends and attend their after school activities as do most of their similarly-aged friends. My older daughter even - gasp - goes to parties and concerts on her own (with friends) sometimes now that she’s in hs but she doesn’t drink because she’s a performer and doesn’t like how it makes her feel (she has tried small amounts of alcohol at home under supervision) and she abhors smoking and drugs. I would trust her to be in most different types of spaces because she knows her limits and how to keep herself safe. She also has self defense training and carries an alarm with her.
It’s mostly the kids who are overly sheltered and coddled by their parents, and parents who treat teens like children, who don’t know how to handle themselves and make really dumb choices like snaking out, going to inappropriate parties and binge drinking. Most kids who are given safe boundaries and allowed to learn by experience may have an uncomfortable moment or two but mostly grow up to understand how to handle themselves. Parent your kids but also realize that part of parenting is letting them learn how to grow up.

I am extremely sorry for this child who endured horrible experiences and I’m not at all surprised that JayZ is a child molesting creep.

That's all well and good, until your sophisticated daughter takes just one drink, and it does not have to be alcoholic, that was given to her unsealed. Then she could find herself in the exact same position as this young girl claims: at a cool party, drugged, and woozy with zero ability to protect herself.

Are you two idiots? His statement is nonsense. Written by a crisis PR specialist. It has no bearing on anything

You omitted your comment about California. Let's all hold California up as a beacon of decency and moral fortitude. After all, Hollywood and the entertainment "artists" promote decency and morality on a daily basis.

She wasn't 18 and let's be real grooming is grooming at 16 or 18. Please do not cover for older men taking advantage of very young women-a child if she was 16 like most sources are reporting.

It’s not even just the fact that he’s older (although that’s certainly a huge factor) it’s that, at the time, Jay-Z was MUCH richer and more well known than Beyonce. She was just a young singer in a pop band. Not the gigantic brand name she is today. He wasn’t just 12 years older or whatever, he was also richer, more powerful, more connected in the music industry. And it seems like her parents encouraged it to some degree. It’s gross.

A lot of people think Beyoncé was groomed like R Kelly groomed Aaliyah

If Beyoncé was groomed, she was groomed by her father and mother. She has been in the music business since she was seven or eight years of age singing at those stupid local events, and then Star Search at eleven.

You don't know what you are talking about.

Do you know what you are talking about. Unless your name is Knowles you are speculating just like everyone else on this forum. It is indeed a fact that Beyonce was singing and performing before crowds at the early age of seven or eight. Google is your friend. It is also a fact that she was on Star Search at the age of eleven. Jay Z was not in her picture at the time she was being pimped out as a child star.

If OP hadn’t clarified that, we would have had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA who she was talking about

Beyonce is far more of a household name, especially to DCUM housewives and boomers.

You seem really out of touch. What part of being a housewife keeps someone from knowing who Jay-Z is lol

40, 50 and 60-something white, Asian and Indian women who have never listened to rap music are unlikely to know who the hell Jay Z is.

Speak for yourself. I am an Indian woman and I knew who Jay-Z was before this lawsuit even if I haven't heard any of his songs.
