There's no way. It's clear that Biden cares about his legacy and he doesn't want that legacy to be "my one term brought the orange guy back."

Biden is the orange guy, now.

Is it your wish to not live so long and well admired. May your wishes for others be your desire

He couldn't, but if the polls had shown he had a better chance of winning, the Dems would have run him.

This. And why he passed the torch to Harris, thus blocking other nominees that stood a better chance of winning.

Biden is old school. Bless him.

By "emotionally intelligent," do you mean pretending it was his choice to withdraw all along? Even though just a few days ago, he was adamantly insisting he would do no such thing? Sure, we'll play along with this fiction.

I guess the "Lord Almighty" came down and gave him the boot.

I think it is more so just the greed for power that is inherent in a 50 year politician that kept him in the race as long as it did. Yes, it would have been very helpful to the keep Trump out of office agenda if we were able to nominate a candidate through a democratic process.

Don’t be fooled.

He was forced out. It was not some compassionate act. Either he withdraws or the 25th amendment is invoked by his own party.

Who cares now? I think it was a good decision either way. I wasn't sure and worried that it would be chaotic but things have moved along in an amazingly positive way. And his legacy is assured for this decision. Did anyone want another Diane Feinstein? That woman should not have run for her last term. It definitely bullied her legacy.

When the GOP moves on from insurrectionism (Trump) and benevolent dictatorship (Vance and Thiel), then we'll talk.

- former Republican

Thank you. Same for me.

I'll take his supposed "invisibility" any day over Trump's "me me me, look at me, only me, I'm the one, the only one, I'm the best, the greatest, me, me me" egotistical blather.

That’s fair, but also not directly relevant to the topic here. “Lack of fanfare” is just an acknowledgment that nobody hears from or sees Biden. That’s evident by all these people that were shocked when he effectively self immolated during the debate and thereafter during interviews.

And now we get the orange man or kacula Harris. Quite the boomer upside down we have going here. At least it’s entertaining.

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume this was a typo and not an immature Trump-like intentional misstatement.

DP. Oh, please! This, from someone who has no doubt gleefully called Trump “Diaper Don, the orange guy, Don the Con,” and FAR worse. How utterly ridiculous that a Democrat would lecture anyone on “immature” monikers. “Kacula” is actually spot on.

But he doesn't think he can go for four more years. That's the whole point. He has stepped out and passed the torch to a new generation. But a great man.

A great man would have announced their intent not to seek another term in 2023 so that their party would have the opportunity to nominate a normal candidate for the 2024 POTUS race through a competitive process. Thanks to Biden's selfishness, party leaders are appointing a nominee to replace him after he embarrassed the country and party. Biden is a step up from Trump but he is far, far from "great man" territory.

Why won't you stop it? He always said once he received the data and was able to consider it he would make a decision. That's what he did.

So saddened by and tired of people like you who flat out refuse to actually listen to what he's saying and watch how he's conducted his life.

You are determined to tear us all down.

DP. You know this is BS, right? It’s clear you and your simpleminded friends are determined to have everyone think Joe selflessly stepped down. The fact remains, he would still be the candidate had the powers that be (Obama, Pelosi, and dozens of D governors and congresspeople - not to mention, Clooney) not insisted he withdraw. We all know this. He was vehemently insisting he would never withdraw just ONE day before he actually did. Please stop rewriting history to suit your absurd “hero” narrative.

Biden was determined to be "a well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory" by federal investigators during a criminal investigation. We don't nominate elderly people with a poor memory to run for the most powerful position in the world. Why didn't Biden do the country a favor and back when these investigation findings were released? We could have had a real primary if had done that. Instead, we are now the party that has it's leaders and financial backers choose a nominee as opposed to the people. This isn't Kamala's fault. I'm pulling for her but anyone that claims Biden is some kind of hero is a complete idiot.
