At long last. A GAG order for trump

Anonymous
If necessary “will impose an incarcerary punishment”.

Good. Any other American would have been behind bars for this crap a long time ago.

Trump wants to be incarcerated. He knows it will be free advertising for his brand and will suck all the oxygen out of the room.

He knows how to play the corporate media like a fiddle. Sorta like the college pro-Palestine demonstrators - despite their insanely small numbers, they know how to generate clicks.

The corporate media really can't help itself. It constantly needs attention-getting content. And Trump reporting to jail will get top ratings.

He may think he wants to be incarcerated. But strip search him, put him in a jumpsuit, take away his spray tans and hair products, show him to his twin sized metal cot in a cell with a public aluminum toilet and feed him Rikers Island fare for 72 hours. Then see if he still wants to be imprisoned or breaks his gag order again. He likes the idea of being a martyr. The reality of a strip search, bad hair, scratchy pre worn underwear and clothes, an uncomfortable cot, inedible food and Rikers island cockroaches— all without his smartphone or a camera to capture his Mandela moment? I doubt he signs up for a second stint of that.

Would he be able to appeal a prison sentence to a higher court? That sounds like something Trump would do.

do you think (really) that he will get the typical prisoner treatment? my $$ is on no. probably wear his own tracksuit, in a reserved cell for VIPs, etc. I picture a scene from goodfellas where they are making their sauce, have their own suite, etc.

The gag order is, itself, unconstitutional.

It has been appealed to the NY appellate court. Still waiting for a ruling.

How the judge can gag one "side" without putting any limits on the other side is ridiculous.

This.
If only the media would stop interviewing him every time he walks in and out of the courtroom. They can write the stories and forego the photos and the interviews.

This would be great but it is understandable that the media covers a very viable presidential candidate even though this coverage is the main reason he is even running again, so he can blather on and on everyday of this and future trials and get his base all lathered up about how unfair it all is. It's all so orchestrated and the Trumpers are lapping it up.

Gag orders don't have to be for both sides, although sometimes where there is huge notoriety in a criminal trial that will happen. Reason it was imposed on Trump is because of his flagrant disregard re: conduct related to court proceedings.

No. Contempt of Court is not a criminal conviction. It’s a sanction and the a judge has wide latitude to impose it, if he stays in the bounds of the statute. Just like the $9k penalty today is not appealable. It *should* be carried out immediately. I would imagine a day or two delay for Trump to secure a location, oven the for,er POTUS logistics. But it should happen quickly. And I have read that the secret service is looking at and preparing options in wings of prisons not in use and former prisons not in use. They are proactively preparing for the possibility.

He would get house arrest if anything. No way he would go to any prison.

Only one side is attacking witnesses, members of the court, jurors and their families and inciting violence on social media. I’m sure of the DA does that, the Judge will respond appropriately.

He already lost his appeal of the gag order. And the gag order applies to both the defense and the prosecution.
