What’s so bad about living in a townhouse?

Not according to half the posters in this thread who think owning a SFH is akin to you being on a pedestal.

SFHs are the new howling wolf tshirts

Is that why the houses are so close together, because they have few socks to spare?

Kind of.. the houses have to huddle together for warmth.

How about a townhouse in PG or baltimore?

I love how OP said THs are cheap and people replied that they are too small for them and other people replied that their THs are 4-br 4-ba… those don’t sound too cheap!! Indeed, the large THs in our area are well over $1m.

My 2c - townhomes are great with 0 or 1 kids, but after that you feel cramped.

They are cheap relative to the nice SFH around them. Why are you all so dense. They are literally built for people who can’t afford a real house.

Yeah stop being poor!

Besides, it’s not like PP could afford a 400 acre property like mine in lodoun county. If you don’t have land like mine, your TH nor SFH doesn’t matter, you’re just a poor piece of trash.

Nobody poor can afford to buy or qualify to buy a townhouse in or around the District. And nobody is attacking anyone for HHI. All we are saying is townhomes have a lot of drawbacks, have a low-rung reputation, and if you socialize in UMC and rich orbits, you will be ostracized for being a townhome dweller (whether you want to admit it or not).

Your neighbors are likely renters…or they soon will be when the units transition to rentals.

Where I live, we lobbied hard to prevent estates from being subdivided by greedy heirs into tiny little 400 acre lots like yours. I simply can't imagine living so close you can actually see the smoke rising from a neighbor's chimney. Our closest neighbors are in the next time zone, as it should be.

There's nothing bad about it, that's why they build them and people buy them and live in them.

I really truly do not want to be friends with people who would do this.

And you will hear their cars, every time they argue, when they have sex, and smell what they have for dinner. Fun times!

Just like in your SFH where you can stretch your arms out between you and your neighbors house and hear and smell the same thing!
