How does this end?

I think the kids even need this-the days are too long.

How are the days long?

My high schooler is DRAINED by the end of the day. And there is a lot of wasted time in the day: switching classes, long lunches, advisory period, down time in electives, pep rallies and assemblies. Most of which DC (and we) could do with out if DC could get out a bit earlier (or start later).

Gosh, very sad that high school kids are in an institution that wastes their time and drains their energy. It's almost like school is preparing them for the working world.

I haven't read this entire thread, but do you know what would solve a lot of FCPS' problems? Cutting the AAP program would free up a LOT of teachers. But you mommies don't want that for your super smart gifted kids, so, deal with it, sugar.

Anecdata, but Covid initiated an immediate switch to private schools and the majority of students were older elementary through middle school and haven’t and won’t return to FCPS.

So, there’s that. Also these are coveted school pyramids so parents strategically moved for the FCPS ES.

This is incorrect. Some did go to private schools but if you think every student who hasn’t returned to FCPS is at a private school now, you have a fundamental ignorance of both FCPS demographics and private school enrollment.

We know a LOT of families (especially dual-fed families) that moved to lower cost of living areas in the past year because both parents can now work remotely.

Cutting AAP wouldn't free up teachers. Those kids would still need classroom placement.

I swear, every thread on here dissolves into bitter parents bound and determined to tear down a program they're jealous their kids didn't make.
