To the top! Seriously, the kids in AAP will be fine with or without it. Their parents will still put them through outside enrichment and prep classes. |
I feel sad for your idea of gifted kids. |
AAP isn't a "gifted" program.
|
Tell that to the commonwealth that requires school districts to have a GT program, Ms. Eyeroll. |
This is already done at all schools. The AART visits every class regularly and does different activities with all of the kids as part of the Level I AAP program. I am not saying that it is great but it is already happening. |
It maybe checks off that requirement, but it's not a "gifted" program.
|
Wait- I think we are agreeing on the same thing but in different ways. I personally think if you want to be a physicist and want to go to college for it, you should try. But if everything points to you failing at it because you’re not smart enough- then you really don’t need aap in Es. And that tracking is way worse in Europe than it is here. Lol |
Wow. I mean sure that’s your opinion but as my fifth grader tested outside of seventh grade math already I would beg to differ. |
Oh honey, it’s true. But we didn’t even need to put them there to begin with. They are constantly being educated through our parenting skills such that they would test into aap regardless. |
long overdue. has become a tool of the upper class at the expense of the average family. |
Yes. Also- this is elementary school. Just wait until puberty hits and effs all of that up. |
when elementary schools like Springhill have over 60% of the students as "gifted", something is not correct. |
So all of those immigrant Asians are now elitist upper class not average families? And you guys wonder why the state flipped red. |
That doesn't make any sense at all. Average families have kids in AAP. Are they at the expense of themselves? |
Disagree. Fairfax county has a high household income. The state has become a brain magnet vs a brain drain. Heck, the state’s top 10% make 250k a year, almost double the National top 10% of 150k. If you consider yourself average nationally- you are below average here. That’s the rub. There are more smart parents, more smart kids. If you don’t like it- move to where there isn’t aap. Let us know how it goes and we will smile to know you are happy |
