Please help me: nurse for newborn with major reflux

Anonymous
Hi. I just found out that my child has major digestive issues because of reflux. We're going to need more help than we'd thought. By any remote chance, can anyone recommend a nurse (night-nurse, maybe some daytime hours too) whom you love, who may have experience with reflux? I know reflux isn't uncommon, but our poor kid has a bad case of it.

Thank you so much,
a desperate and exhausted mom

I'm assuming that you are seeing a specialist and using medication (and if not, you should look into it).

I know that our ped recommended strapping the baby into his carseat to sleep at night -- so that he was in an upright position -- b/c the reflux pain is horrible when the baby is on his back.

While I think most peds recommend keeping the baby in an upright position if possible (especially 30min after eating), mine said that some research indicates that a carseat is not the best way to do that-- I think because of the way they are bent it places pressure on the abdomen. The book Colic Solved also explains this. You might check into getting that book if you haven't already. It has some really great information on GERD.
