iPhone 4s and Verizon

Anonymous
I am an existing Verizon customer and plan to stay with Verizon. I'm not sure if I should buy the iPhone from Apple or Verizon.

Has anyone done this recently?

If I buy from Apple, I can buy the Apple "insurance" if the phone breaks but not if I buy from Verizon?

I don't know what the benefit of ordering from Apple is. I preordered mine from Verizon. You can add their equipment protection plan within 30 days of ordering the phone.

Whose plan, Apple's or Verizon's?

Verizon's is a worse plan and I don't think you can add Apple's later if you buy from Verizon.

I'd like to know the answer to this as well. In same boat as OP, currently w/ Verizon wanting to get new iPhone but def. want some kind of insurance for it.

Any downsides to buying from Apple directly?

yeah, I'd like to know, too, my nearly 7 yr. old flip phone is on its last legs and a Verizon iPhone is the likely next candidate.

If you do a lot of international travel, you should consider that the Verizon iPhone does not work outside of the US.

I'm not sure if other iPhones work overseas but Verizon does not.

Actually the new Verizon iPhone does work internationally.

AT&T's iPhone works fine abroad, but you'll need to be a millionaire to pay the bill when you get home, especially if you use much data. I usually just buy a local SIM wherever I go, but you have to jailbreak your iPhone to do that which is not convenient for some people. Verizon phones will work overseas in countries that have CDMA networks, but that's not many.
