One or two special persons needed to work with a 32 year old autistic male

Loving family needs a male or female to work with a 32 year old autistic man in his home. No special skills needed other than patience and compassion. The young man is personable, speaks, and interacts with adults and children.

The mother will provide Relationship Development Intervention (RDI) therapy training to the person working with her son. One of this program's many goals is to give people with autism the tools needed to adapt more easily to changing environments and the techniques can easily be learned. The mother will always be present in the home during the sessions. This is not a "babysitting job," but a chance to provide intellectual stimulation to this young man.

Family desires to have someone two sessions per week, each lasting 2 hours.

They will consider one person for the 4 hours per week or two people who will “share” the job.

A stay-at-home Mom who has a pre-school child would also be acceptable for this position. Previous people have brought their children to these sessions with much success.

Preferred Times are:

10 am - 12 pm

OR

2 pm - 4 pm

on either Monday, Tuesday or Thursday

The family can be flexible with the times/dates.

Location: Chevy Chase, MD, near Western Avenue and River Road. Parking available on the street. 10 - 15 minute walk from Friendship Heights.

Pay will be $20/hour
