| With 3 people. Is it insane traffic /week could we make it there by 7the if we leave at 5? |
|
What does 7the mean? If you mean 7:30, it is potentially doable, but I wouldn't count on it. Do you need to leave at 5? I would leave much much earlier. 270 is a beast. Even if you get there on time, you will have had a stressful drive.
There's lots of fun stuff to do in downtown Frederick on weekend evenings (esp the first Friday of each month), if you need to kill an hour or so. |

You may want to buffer in more room then 2 hours. I would, actually. There would be heavy traffic on 495 and 270 (rush hour plus Friday evening traffic).
If traffic on 270 is bad you can jump on 355 instead - it's longer but can be easier then dealing with 270. But I'd still plan some more buffer room. Especially if there's an accident on 270 it can back up traffic for hours on 270 and 355. |

OP here.
Sorry for the Android-induced spelling errors. I meant 7:00pm. Thanks for the feedback. |
| If you REALLY need to be there by 7pm, I would definitely factor in more than 2 hours. We used to leave for Ohio (passing through Frederick) on Friday evenings around that time or even slightly earlier. It was awful 80% of the time, and it was not at all unusual for it to take 2+ hrs to reach Frederick. And you're really in trouble if it's raining. |

It's bad on Fridays and back ups can start around Germantown and Clarksburg as early as 3:30.
Route 28 all the way up is an alternate option. You can pick that up at Exit 6 off 270 in Rockville. |
| And think about taking the MARC train as well. |
That would be a problem getting home since the MARC train won't run south again until Monday morning. |
Amtrak back. Easy solution. |
No Amtrak to Frederick, Closest stop is Brunswick or Harpers Ferry. Greyhound maybe |
