| I grew up in a Russian-Jewish neighborhood where the local bakery used to make this chocolate 7 maybe even 10 layer cake, shaped like a rectangle. The inside was a type of vanilla cake with an almost mousse like chocolate filling alternated with the cake, covered in a chocolate ganache. The bakery has since closed-this was in MI and I am dying for the recipe. I have bought similar cakes but none taste like the one I remember. I was hoping maybe someone knows what I am talking about and even has a recipe for it? TIA |

Is this what you're talking about? http://joyof.kosher.com/recipe/traditional-jewish-seven-layer-cake/
Pretty standard Jewish dessert. You can probably tweak the above recipe to match the cake of your childhood. |
looks similar-I have followed several recipes-never come out quite like what I remember. I wouldn't even know what to tweak since I am not sure what the original recipe was-for sure no caramel. I was hoping someone had a family recipe or had a tried recipe that they could stand by-but thanks anyway. |
