We live in NoVa, and are expecting to receive our referral for a child from China in the near future. Does anyone have any recommendations for a doctor who might be able to review the file prior to our accepting the referral? We'll likely need a 24 hour turn around, and we're comfortable doing it either in person or via email.
Many thanks! |

I would not use any local doctor for the actual review of the referral. Ask on the China Adopt parent list servs for what doctors have seen the most Chinese referrals in the past few years.
Once home, any ped will do |
| Agree with PP. There are several well-known int adoption Drs who will provide these medical reviews of the file...ask on the adoption-related listservs for contact info... |

I have posted on some of the major China sites, but haven't gotten any usable suggestions, so I thought I'd try here. Most people have said they didn't have a doctor review the file before bringing the child home. Thank you for the suggestion in Bethesda--we'll check that out!
Many thanks! |

That's odd but maybe its because the referrals are few and far between these days. Also, in earlier years many parents felt more confident because babies were actually infants when they were referred and still coming home under 10 mths of age. Some that come to mind with years of experience: Dr. Aronson Dr. Bledsoe Dr. Federici Dr. Jenista |
| Thank you all--this is very helpful! |
| Dr. Mason is no longer working in this field so I'd scratch that referral. |
I had heard this, but I think the clinic itself still exists and has physicians with expertise in this area. Someone correct me if I'm wrong |
Interesting...do you know why not? |
