| Can someone cite a case where a person actually sued to get into AAP? I am wondering if this is all rumor or if it actually happens. I did some googling; nothing came up. |
| whats AAP? |
| It would make perfect sense that a school-related issue like hiring a lawyer to be accepted to AAP would not make it far enough in legal proceedings that there would be a public record of the case. Lots and lots of people consult lawyers and their cases don't end up in print. |
Possible, but if true, would be very very very rare cases. I can't form any opinion without knowing the facts. |
If you really *MUST* know "to form an opinion," I suggest a FOIA request. Heavens to Betsy, AAP is not a "contest" or a "quest for the Holy Grail." About 2/3 of the 2nd grade pool are found Center-eligible. |
I was talking about the cases if they exist. If the parents were being absurd or if they were somewhat understandable regarding the lawsuits. Relax. By the way, 2/3 of the 2nd grade pool are found Center-eligible = about 15% of the entire group. Which is not a bad feeling for parents. |
I don't understand a word of what you're saying. (And I'm a biglaw lawyer with a top law school diploma in my drawer.) |
You don't need to understand. (I'm president Obama.) |
|
In summary, yes it's possible there was a very rare case of lawsuit over AAP admission.
So what... Nobody can stop anybody for suing for anything these days. Also, no system is perfect and people make mistakes. There could had been an understandable enough reason for the parent to take the action. Who knows... |
| Question for OP: Are you asking because this is what you are planning to do? |
No! My kid is already in AAP. I ask because it's something I keep seeing on this board. That someone knows someone who did this.... I am not sure I believe it. I know there are a lot of attorneys on these boards. Maybe you have access to some legal database I do not. I just wondered if this is the equivalent of a fcps urban legend or if people are really suing over AAP. |
That person who keeps claiming it is a notorious ignorant troll on AAP boards. Maybe it's a once in a million case. Either the parent was nuts or some terrible mistake made by the county. Who knows... Not worth paying attention to the troll. |
Then it's no wonder that you can't craft a coherent sentence -- you weren't born in the United States. (I'm a crusader for clarity in DCUM posts.) |
No wonder that you don't have many clients, and spend time crusading on DCUM. |
Ahhh! OK, I was just being nosy. It seems like an extreme to sue for gifted placement, but you never know! |
