what do I need

hi,
My baby is almost 3 weeks old. What do I need to do in the baby's first month? Pictures? Do I send the announcements? Help please...

Also:I do not want to use a pacifier but my baby is crying a lot, especialy at night. What are my other options? Thanks so much for help

You do not need to do anything - other than take care of yourself and your baby.

It is nice to send out announcements - ours went out around 3 months
Thank you notes - tried to get them done within a month of receiving a gift

Got baby pictures taken professionally at 3 months


Regarding pacifier, my DD and DS would not "take it". I leaned over their bassinet and let them suck on my finger until they calmed down and fell asleep. They eventually both became thumbsuckers. I prefered this to the pacifier. I am sure you will hear people who loved the pacifier and those who loved the thumb.

Just relax - you dont' need to do a thing!

WE didn't take professional pics until around 7 months. Then the baby can sit up and smile, but not crawl away. IMO, 7-8 months is much much cuter than newborn. Take a ton of pics with your camera now and save your $$.

My babies would spit pacifiers out, but if I put my pinky tip in their mouths, they'd suck on that until they calmed down. You could try that.
