How to Determine NOVA School District?

Is there a place to see which school district/pyramid each neighborhood of NOVA (I'm particularly interested in Falls Church, Fairfax, and Arlington) falls into? A list of zip codes per school, a map, something? I'm looking at home buying and wanted to easily tell which school system each prospective house falls into.

As a sub-question: which areas feed into Falls Church High School, and which into George Mason? That one is particularly confusing to me as a newbie.

Many thanks for any enlightenment!

FCPS has a boundary locator service:

In addition to boundary locator, there are PDFs of each school boundary map available on fcps.edu (search on the school directory). You can also buy large county maps at the government center with all the boundaries marked. Those were helpful for us to get an overall sense of neighborhoods and pyramids.

George Mason is Falls Church City (22040, 22046), Falls Church HS is in Fairfax County (22041,22042, 22043, 22044). There are several schools that have students from the Falls Church section of Fairfax County besides Falls Church HS - Stuart HS and Marshall HS for example. Not sure if there are more.

There are some larger maps at this site that show the current ES/MS/HS boundaries in Fairfax:

http://www.fcps.edu/fts/planning/maps/index.htm

If you live in Falls Church City, you're assigned to George Mason HS.

If you live in Fairfax County with a Falls Church mailing address, you could be assigned to McLean, Marshall, Falls Church or JEB Stuart, depending on the specific address. There may be a few zip codes where all the students attend a specific school (for example, I think all of 22041 is assigned to Stuart), but it's best to check the specific address.

Yes, do not assume the name of the school reflects the towns that send kids there. We were in Fairfax and zoned for Falls Church HS (from 22031). It can be misleading.

Arlington Boundary maps in pdf format can be found here: http://www.apsva.us/page/3001

Also, there is a link on the webpage to enter a specific address too.

For the houses that *might* be in George mason but might be in Fairfax County, run the address through the boundary locator for Fairfax County. If no address is found and the zip is 22046 (or 22040?), it's likely falls Church city schools. Also, if the price seems low, it's probably feeding into Fairfax County schools - there's a premium on the houses in Falls Church City compared to the ones in the same area that feed into Falls church high school.

The price could be low because it's a tiny old house in FCC. A lot of people like the idea of FCC, but then are underwhelmed by what's actually available.

Falls Church City addresses will typically have three-digit or a very low four-digit address. They will always be in zip 22046 and will zone to Falls Church City schools. For Fairfax County, use the website above.
