IF YOU HAD ONE SCHOOL TO CHOOSE FROM.........?

SO,...next year we'll be looking for a house in Montogomery County. IF parents could chose a public school for their children i.e. there were no boundaries, where would they send their children to for elementary, middle and high school?...and Why?

I've substituted taught at quite a few schools and I would say if they're white or Asian, if you're wealthy and if they're gifted, I would lean toward Burning Tree or Carderock Springs-- eventually going to Whitman.

If your child is Black or Hispanic, I would lean toward the BCC cluster.

If your child or you have any interest in the IB program, I would probably put them in one of the full-time foreign language immersion programs, then middle school, then high school. I would lean toward Rock Creek Forest/ Westland and BCC with its IB program but you don't have to live in the school zone to do that. (You have to apply and you might, or might not, get in.)

If your child has special needs, I have heard good things about Cabin John and Julius West. They feed into Churchill and Richard Montgomery. Not sure about elementary special ed though.

To immediate PP. What if you're white and an average student?

From all that I had read previously BCC was the choice for HS. Is Whitman better? and in what way?
