I'm with Cap Medical Group in Chevy Chase since having our first in 2008. I recall at the time they told me at the orientation to just call them and let them know I had delivered a baby (they don't have rights in my hospital) and make the first appointment. They didn't require preregistration or anything like that. So assume it is the same with my second?

My PCP is my DC's ped since 6 months so she actually told me I was pregnant I went in for a annual check up and she came back with the results in a few minutes...

| I contacted the office and got the forms to drop off before the baby was born. At least they had name, address, insurance info before they had a DOB. I think I was with DC1 at a sick appt when I was around 7 mos and told my fav LNP. Even if your ped did round at the hospital, the nursery/post partum nurses would contact the office. |
Yep. I mentioned it to them when I was there last time with DS but didn't do anything else other than list it on the hospital form (delivered at Sibley where they do have privileges) and the doc on call just showed up (this was 4 weeks ago, so relatively recent!). No problem. |

When I brought DC#1 to an appt with an IV needle hanging out of my arm (hyperemsis while pregnant). The doctor looked at me and said good god - why are you here and what is going on with you.
Seriously though, call the office as you get closer to deliver and ask what they want you to do. |

We're at CMG, too. I just mentioned it at an appointment for my older kids (we've done #2 and #3). I don't think they did anything for #2, but Dr. Shearin did make a note in my chart about when #3 was expected. The older two were kind of sick with respiratory things and were trying to clean them up before the baby arrived!
They told me to call when I delivered and make an appt. I deliver at GW, so we go in pretty quickly after baby gets home. |
