Clothing for Short, Chubby Toddler

Anonymous
1 year old DS is in the 80% for weight and 70% for height. He also has a bit of a chubby belly. He mainly wears 24 month tops but pants that fit his waist are usually WAY too long for him. Are there any good stores for clothes for kids like this? TIA!

a friends child had this issue. She found old navy seemed to fit him better. She could find pants with elastic waist that fit but the pants could be folded up or were shorter.

Also she had issues with pants her son was chunky and hated anything on his waist so he did wear a lot of elastic pants and she would put him in sweatpants at home that had the elastic band on the ankles so they wouldnt fall off.

she was good at hemming. Only good thing is he is now skinnier and taller so she could take the hem out or just unfold them

My guys were 95th percentile for weight and 75th for height, I found Carters to be best. Stretchy waists are your friend. Naartjie is also really good and runs a bit large. Circa brand from Target worked as well. I always found Old Navy to be cut narrow but they have some more relaxed fit stuff now that may work but my experience was never consistent, same with Gap. Crazy 8 can be ok also but Carters and Naartjie are the best bet.

I have the same problem with DC. Children's Place seems to have the pants that work. Someone on another thread recommended the Sears brand children's clothing for a chubby toddler. Haven't tried that yet but definately will since choices are so limited.

I don't know if this would help, but I like cropped stretchy type things. The only down side is in the stroller, his ankles are exposed, so I keep a stroller blanket to keep him cozy.

Childrens Place seems to run a little fuller in the waist, even more so since they added the adjustable elastic pull waist.

I absolutely love Janie and Jack for my DS, but he's a skinny guy and I'm finding their clothes are cut VERY wide. Bad for us, but may work well for you!

95% weight and 70% girls here... We use Childrens Place pants and roll up. Target has Hanes sweat pants that can be rolled. Girls are a bit easier though cause we can use dresses and leggings. Old navy has good winter fleece pants that we rolled up. No jeans work at all. Love summer shorts!
