4am noisy fighter jets over McLean for close to an hour

Why are so many people freaking out over fighter jets? We're close to military bases - helicopters and jets fly over quite a bit and I'm sure they run a lot of practices and drills.
Even if it was because of some sort of threat - we wouldn't know about it. |

| Why am I freaking out? Because it woke us all up and I have a migraine from the lack of sleep. It's important to our nation's security so I'm all for it, but just wondering what it was? NORAD perhaps? I've lived here many, many years and have only heard this kind of thing over the past 12 months. |

| Checked NORAD website and I was right..it was NORAD. This was planned for the previous night, but I guess got postponed. Flights were expected between 3 and 5 am. At least this was planned and not due to a threat. I have to find out if these things are announced in advance and I need to look into ear plugs. |
