Baptism at Episcopal Church

| Does anyone know if godparents are required? For personal reasons I do not want to have any godparents. |

| When my son was baptized at an Episcopal Church, all the babies had godparents but I don't know whether it's required or not. |

| Babies do have to have godparents, but parents can serve as godparents, if that would work for you. |

| Hmmm ... cradle Episcopalian here as well as preacher's sister & daughter. Have NEVER heard of this being done ... which is not to say it's impossible, but that it does obviate the point. The godparents are expected to see to the kid's spiritual upbringing, particularly if you can't. |

Neither of my daughters have godparents, and they were both baptized in the Episcopal Church. One at St. Columba's.
It's unusual, but it wasn't an issue at St. Columba's. |
