Child abuse cases at CMMS Rockville

Anonymous
Some parent posted this on another thread

"There are abuse cases being investigated. The Center has no Montessori teachers. The State inspection reports show multiple issues of poor management and sub standard care. The Director is rude, mean and incompetent. The owner sues everyone in sight. What the heck is going on at that place? Why is it still in business? "

This one by another parent

"Even we were under the impression that all the teachers are montessori certified. Some time in early Aug we all got a letter saying the teacher in my DC class is not qulified Montessori teacher and we are firing her for the same reason. My question to the rude owner and the Director why did they take 1 1/2 year to find out this perticular teacher is not qulified, Can we get our money back for cheating or can we take this guy to court for misleading all the parents. "

any one has more information about this?

I don't know how you'd find out about any child abuse cases unless charges are actually filed. I suppose you could call the State departments that might be involved -- Education, Child Welfare Services, etc.

You can search the Maryland Judiciary Case Search here for things related to this school. You can look under the school name, the owner name, the owner's incorporated business name, etc. I did it last week when someone mentioned child abuse, but I couldn't find anything. If there really is a case, perhaps the defendant is listed by teacher's name. I don't know any names of any teachers.

I am wondering why the person/people who originally posted this cannot back up the claims with more information. As a parent, I would like to know if this is really happening.

I assume there are confidentiality issues involved with an abuse accusation. Once the accused is "convicted" there will be a record of it. However, releasing info on a complaint that has not been fully processed would be unethical. While I am also curious to know the details of the alleged incident, I think we are going to have to wait for the process to play out.

Really? You don't think there is a duty to warn potential victims? It is fine to say the abuse is alleged, but to have information about possible abuse and post it anonymously on a message board and not be able to substantiate it in any way seems worse to me (since it is slandering the school) and makes the person complicit in the abuse of future victims.

Also, there should be a record of it when there are ANY charges filed - they would show up in the Judiciary Case Search as posted above. Records are public BEFORE conviction and if the person who originally posted has legitimate information, they should be willing to share it.

Child welfare information is confidential and cannot be shared per md law.

Yes, but once charges are filed it is no longer confidential.

Criminal charges are not confidential. Any child welfare record is always confidential, and is separate from the criminal case.

This is awful. Based on other posts, this school obviously has problems, but making these kind of anonymous accusations is not fair.

Why don't any concerned parents simply contact the daycare to find out what the story is? I assume the daycare will give them the appropriate details. If the parents don't trust the daycare to tell the truth, they should probably withdraw their children. Who sends their children to a Daycare that they think is run by people who lie to them?
