cabs at Medical Center metro

I have an appointment tomorrow about 1 mile from Medical Center metro. I've never been there -- can anyone tell me if I can easily catch a cab outside of the station? Or should I try Bethesda instead? Thanks!

I would do Bethesda. It's kind of dead around Medical Center is my recollection. I think it's a bus depot of sorts but don't remember seeing many taxis.

I agree, go to Bethesda instead. I'm not sure if they congregate by the Metro exit, but there are definitely always some at the Hyatt (right by the station).

In my experience commuting to/from NIH, there are almost NEVER cabs there. I don't know why, especially now that BRAC has brought 5k more employees to these facilities. It drove me crazy since the Metro buses were totally erratic. Get off at Bethesda and just head to the hotel right at the top of metro (Hyatt?) - there is a taxi stand there that is usually full of cabs waiting for a fare.
