Infertility Support and Discussion
I'm 11 days past a 6 day embryo transfer (where we transferred 1 blastocyst embryo). I have had no symptoms (other than being really hot but that's likely from the endemetrin I'm thinking. And I have also caught a cold that's left me really congested.) Bottom line, I've been quite bummed out because I was quite certain this cycle (our first IVF cycle) didn't work. I am scheduled for my blood test tomorrow. This morning, I broke down and took a home pregnancy test (so I could prepare myself for the negative results) and it came back PREGNANT! I couldn't believe it! Could it be a false positive? Is that common? I'm cautiously OPTIMISTIC!!
Was it pink dye or blue dye?

Here's to hoping it's real, OP. Not sure what the rates are for false positive (would prob. depend on the brand) but wikipedia lists some details of false pos:
False positive test results may occur for several reasons. These include: errors of test application, use of drugs containing the assay molecule, and non-pregnant production of the assay molecule. Spurious evaporation lines may appear on many home pregnancy tests if read after the suggested 3–5 minute window or reaction time, independent of an actual pregnancy. False positives may also appear on tests used past their expiration date. A woman who has been given an hCG injection as part of infertility treatment will test positive on pregnancy tests that assay hCG, regardless of her actual pregnancy status. However, some infertility drugs (e.g., clomid) do not contain the hCG hormone.[13] |
OP, remain cautious but do this: Go out and get a First Response test. They're expensive but the best. Take one test tomorrow morning and the other the next morning. If you see any sort of faint line, whatsoever, I'd say BFP!!!!
OP here. Thanks everyone for your responses. I used a Clear Blue Easy test kit so it just says 'pregnant' (i.e. there were no lines involved). It claims to be 99 percent accurate but you never know. My trigger shot (Lupron) was 18 days ago so I find it hard to believe it would still be in my system but you never know. I'll probably just wait until my beta test tomorrow and see what it reveals. For the first time in a long time, I'm very OPTIMISTIC!!! Good luck, everyone who's trying!! This 2ww is the LONGEST wait ever!
You're definitely pregnant, especially if you used a Lupron trigger instead of a HCG trigger. Congrats! |
OP again. I hope you're right!! The proof will be in my hcg levels. I'm 39 so I know my odds with 1 embryo wasn't great but I wanted to be conservative for our first time...
You're definitely pregnant. Congratulations!!!
OP again. I just wanted to update: Today, my beta test shows I am indeed pregnant! I'm still in shock because I don't have any noticeable symptoms. Thanks again everyone for your advice. As someone who's been dealing with secondary infertility for 2 years now, I understand how frustrating and painful this journey can be. I appreciate this forum because other peoples' experiences have really helped me cope along the way. I wish everyone successful outcomes!
That's wonderful news, OP. Congratulations!
Fantastic!! Congratulations, OP!!
