Culinary school

Anyone have any info on culinary school? I would love to hear from anyone that has gone. I'm looking into making a career change (I have a grad degree in something completely different but do have restaurant experience).

I would like to open my own restaurant and have an idea for a niche restaurant that I wouldn't need a culinary degree for. But I also wonder if I would like being a chef in someone else's restaurant.

The Internatinal Culinary school at AI is $23k a year for either 1 or 2 years depending on the degree. I would be investing at least $50k to open my own place, wouldnt I?

I would love to hear from anyone that has gone down this career path.
