at what age did your child sit up?

Just curious what's "normal".....

If you mean able to remain sitting without assistance, DS at a little over 6 months, DD right around 5 months. I can't remember how old they were when they could push themselves into sitting.

DS is 6.5 months and can still only do it unsupported for a few seconds before toppling to one side. I was starting to worry, but his pediatrician said at the 6 month appt that it was still within normal. I was too relieved by that to ask when I *should* start to worry, so hopefully he'll learn soon!

for both of my kids it was 7 months - and they would topple over after a several seconds. By 8, they were champs!

5.5 MONTHS. BUT SHE DID EVERYTHING EARLY, INCLUDING WALKING AT 9 MONTHS.

EVERY BABE IS DIFFERENT AND MOST IT HAS TO DO WITH GENETICS.

five months. he then sat there for another five months before he started crawling

DS didn't sit unsupported until 8 months, crawled at 10 months - is now 3 and runs circles around me, so being a bit on the late side didn't seem to mean anything. Dr. was never concerned.

I don't really remember, but DS started crawling as 6 mos, so I'd guess he sat at 5mos. However, he did not walk until 15mos!!! I guess he started crawling too early and was happy doing that.

same as 22:57. no worries.

Coincidence that sitting up is a prerequisite for starting solids? Mother Nature has it all figured out.

Enjoy this phase - aren't the babies just growing up so fast?
