| Cover girl discontined my favorite whipped foundation quite a few months ago. I had bought my next jar on ebay and figured I'd have to find something else. Well I am running low again, and found a great deal on ebay for a lot of 8 jars in the exact shade I use. I am just wondering now, is it possible for this unopened make up to go bad or expire before I can use it all? Thanks a lot! |

| Absolutely. Conjunctivitous. Throw it away. Are you the PP who finally found her friend's make bag after unpacking from a move???? YOU SLAG!!!!!! |

Honestly, my first thought was that even if the makeup won't go bad right away, stocking up that much seems like a bad idea, like you're having too hard of a time with the change. You loved it, now let it go.
My second thought was to google shelf life of makeup. This seems reasonable enough: "A water-based foundation will last up to 12 months, oil-based will last up to 18 months." http://beauty.about.com/od/makeuptrickstips/a/shelflife.htm |

To 12:49: I have no idea what you are talking about and you are being quite rude. How would I get conjunctivitous from unopened makeup?
To 12:56: Thank you, this is more of the answer I was looking for. I've never worn makeup much and found this a few years ago and love it. Now I can wear makeup everyday and not feel like I am wearing any. This is why I wanted to stock up. Of course when I run out I will find something new. |
| The guidelines are usually quite conservative. I think the unopened makeup will keep much longer than 12 mos if you store it in a cool, dark place at a fairly consistent temperature, like a basement storage area. |
| Thank you 13:34, I agree after doing my own research. It doesn't start going bad until after it's opened up. I saw that it can last for up to 3 years. |

I would think it would probably separate and degrade to some extent. Keeping it in the fridge might help. I wouldn't get 8 jars, just one or two if that's an option.
12:49 is a moron. |
