My parents' 40th anniversary is early October, and we'd like to take them on a family vacation somewhere for about 4-5 days. There will be 6 adults and 2 toddlers, and we'd like the following:
1. A variety of things to do, including golf, sightseeing, restaurants, and something for the kids; 2. Not too expensive and not too far (i.e., not Europe and maybe not even the West Coast); and 3. Warm, or at least not too cold. I heard San Juan might be good because there are beaches, ruins, museums, etc., but am I crazy for even thinking about Puerto Rico in October? According to NOAA, there have only been 3 hurricanes or tropical storms in PR in October since 1867, but the average rainfall that month is around 5 inches. Any other suggestions? My husband keeps pushing for New Orleans, but I'm finding that lodging (we'll probably rent a house) is more expensive than I'd expected. |
