Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
I have DC signed up for a group test in the next 2 weeks. DH (who has acted like he only tangentially cared about the whole thing until now) called just now and said he thinks we need to sign DC up for the individual test. Cost be damned.
So, for those of you who have gone through the GMU testing process, which do you recommend and why? TIA. |

Group test is the CogAT that FCPS gives in the second grade.
Individual is the WISC. Get the WISC. |
| Are you in private school? If so, I'd sign your child up for group testing. Then, you have a second bite at the apple with WISC if you want/need it. If you're in public, your child will have group testing in school, so you'd choose the WISC because they can't take the group test (or the WISC for that matter)more than once a year. |
| The other thing to consider is that you get more information from the individual test. it's an actual IQ test, whereas the group tests are not. The scores tell you more about strengths and weaknesses if you're interested in that and not just getting in to AAP. |
