Yes, I just called them about that and it looks to cost $280 over a year to rent an 'economy' model. But I see online that you can buy them for that or less. So, given that the Potter's Violin ones are economy models, surely it makes more sense to buy online and sell later ... ? Am I missing something? |
I'd rather not go through the hassle of trying to sell a child-size violin. I can't imagine it has much resale value, and depending on the age of your child, you may be changing sizes halfway in less than a year.
Try Middle C in Tenleytown or Chuck Levins's in Wheaton for rental rates.

I've had extremely good luck buying instruments (guitars and piano, but no violin) from Melodee Music in Sterling. Depending on where you live, it can be a hike to get there. But, great prices and service. You can view some of their current inventory on line:

I'd rent. They have the kids start with smaller violins and trade up to larger. Don't buy until you are sure the child will stick with it and like the violin you choose.
I'm renting from Music & Arts. It's $20 for the first three months, but the price goes up after that. It's basically a rent to own. Otherwise you can buy it out right for about $550.
