I have a 20 months old and we moved because of the schools to the Whitman Cluster but having just met a Mom who put 4 kids through the system she has me worried - about pressures that come from parents (?). What is she talking about? We are a bi-racial family, has that caused more drama than normal for anyone?
What is the good, the bad and the ugly? I like to plan (and worry) ahead. Thanks! |
There are parents in every school in the DC area who are over-the-top in terms of competitiveness and pushing kids too far. Whitman gets that reputation sometimes. I think its probably valid but I don't think it's exclusively a Whitman issue.
Don't worry. Whitman is a great school and it is a big school. Your kid will find his way and will be fine. Let the competitive uber uptight parents burn out and just ignore them and know that those parents exist everywhere. |
Love Whitman and the parents I've met are way lower key than the parents in our private school. I would not worry about it at all (not to mention that you've got more than a decade before you get there?). |
