foundation/powder for oily, shiny skin??

Anonymous
Hello,

My skin is oily and my face is shiny from morning to evening. Can you recommend a foundation, expecially a translucent powder that will help my skin look better? Also, I do not wear foundation from fear that it will make my skin even more oily-looking. Is there a good foundation/brand that I can use?

TIA!!!

Go to Sephora and ask the salespeople there. I've had great experiences with almost all of the products they have recommended.

Duo Matte from makeup Forever at Sephora. Ask for a consult. They have people for this.

also the best thing I ever got were the Boscia blotting papers. try them for when you inevitably get oily, I use a combo of those and mineral powder

Try De-Slick from Urban Decay.

Sephora is usually sold out of it, but you can order directly from Urban Decay. It's worth every penny. It blends with almost any skin tone and lasts for hours. I love it.

Not a foundation or powder-- but try Tease Zone from dermadoctor.com (mattifyign lotion-- it works very well!)

La Roche Posay makes a great mattifying lotion. Wear that under a mineral powder foundation. Also, you may be washing your face too harshly and making it produce more oil--switch to a more basic cleanser.

avon perfectware foundation has been great for my oily skin and won't break the bank. Bare minerals also makkes a formula for oily skin.

Wow, I'm suprised no one has suggested Bare Essentials/Minerals (or however they spell it). I have a grease slick on my face, which in ways is wonderful because I don't wrinkle, but makes for occasional ugly acne and the same problem the op describes.

I love the bare minerals. Great coverage and never ever greasy. I also use a VERY cheap mud mask that you can pick up for $3 at CVS called Mint Julep. It is wonderful and does a great job for oily skin, that would be way too harsh for dry skin people.

Smashbox Photo Finish Light Primer. Love it. Both my husband and I have oily skin and this is the only product that has kept our skin dry throughout the day. In addition to my skin being oily, it's sensitive, but the primer has never caused a breakout. I don't live without this stuff!

Man, you're lucky that the smashbox primer worked for you. I bought it and absolutely loved how it kept my face shine free during the day, but about a week after I started using it I broke out with gross cystic acne. I went to the dermatologist and brought in all the products I'd been using and she said it was definitely from the silicone in the primer. I was so bummed.

MAC F/X oil free powder foundation. It's great for oily skin. For a less expensive alternative, try Neutrogena oil-free powder foundation; it's also very good and has actually seemed to help my skin.

I like a couple different things. Clinique has a pressed powder called Stay Matte that I like but I see they have another one called Super Powder Double Face that has better coverage. Definitely try them out first.

In the summer, I prefer to wear a light moisturizer. I use Estee Lauder DayWear Sheer Tint formula. You don't have to select a shade, it auto-tints and creates a nice glow. For powder on top of this I use Sephora brand pressed powder.

I tried Bare Minerals and while the coverage is excellent, it always made my face feel itchy. One great thing that came out of Bare Minerals is their maximum coverage concealer brush. I use this with my regular pressed powder and it makes a world of difference and provides concealing coverage when I need it.
