Please help! Do you know of a private school in DC (or close in) that has openings in first grade

I intend to do my homework obviously but if you know of a school with first grade openings, please post here. It would be very helpful to know where to start.

Try Lowell. Not sure if they have openings but it's such a great school. GL op

For a boy or girl?

I heard Lowell has spots. Also maybe Cap Hill Day School? Would you be willing to go Catholic? St. Peter's, Blessed Sacrament, Holy Trinity Georgetown might be able to fit you in.

I heard from a friend that St. Patrick's in the Palisades neighborhood has spots in first grade.

Norwood is full, I think, but call to confirm. I am not aware of them taking a kid after the school year started, but obviously I don't know everything.

This isn't your typical private school but it pretty much is, or so I'm told by private school parents. Maury ES, located at 1250 Constitution Ave NE (just a block north of Lincoln Park) has a couple of spots in its three 1st grade classes, all taught by phenomenal teachers in a newly renovated school led by one of the best principals all-around, who has public, charter, and private experience. Maury enjoys autonomy as part of the DC3 Collaborative and has probably one of the most active and most vibrant parent communities around. Can't hurt to at least check it out, no? Email the principal at carolyne.albert-garvey@dc.gov or call her at 202 698 3838.
And then you just might start to like getting some high-quality return on footing a considerable DC tax bill each year We certainly do!

If you're going to look at Maury, then consider a charter school which are run more like private schools. Inspired Teaching may have a small waitlist for 1st so call and ask http://www.inspiredteachingschool.org.

OP, tell us more: are you transferring a child from another school? Having difficulty in your local public? Moving to DC from elsewhere? This probably makes a difference to what people suggest.

Yes, experiencing significant difficulties in local school. We are looking into almost all the suggested options.

School just started. What kind of problems are you referring to?

No matter what they are I will tell you that "significant difficulties" will not be made better by private school.

Capitol Hill Day School.
