Christening gift -- how much $ to give?

| We have two christenings this month -- one for a nephew and one for the child of a friend (not best friends, but we are friends with the husband and wife). We are not Catholic and have no idea what is the norm for gift-giving for christenings -- assuming money is the general gift, but how much is appropriate for a family member and a friend? We are Protestant, and as far as I know, those religions don't throw huge parties or do gift-giving for baptisms, so we're really in the dark and new to this! Thanks! |
