ethiopian adoption slowdown

Anyone have any information on adopting from Ethiopia? From what I've read, things have majorly slowed down to something like 5 adoptions/month. Would appreciate any input.

You should consider joining an Ethiopian Adoption Yahoo group. People on those groups have really up to the minute information about the status of adoptions. Another place to look for information is on the Department of State website. There you will find notices, such as the two recent ones relating to orphanage closures. Also, you can get statistics regarding the number of visas granted. There has been a steady increase over the past few years, but, like you, I have heard from those who are in process, that there has been a major slowdown due to allegations/concerns about corruption.

OP, I have an acquaintance who is currently in Ethiopia waiting to bring their child home. I can ask her what she knows if you'd like.

Go to the big board on the Ethiopian Yahoo group. The issue is discussed almost every other day. Go to the archives. MOWA has rightfully slowed down the process and the government has closed down some of the orphanages for good reason.

Yes, any help is appreciated. I'd love to hear from your friend. I'm unable to get on Yahoo groups at the moment.
