How can a bus just not show up?

Our bus just didn't show up this morning, the very first day! Apparently we found out an hour later that it broke down. WTF?

That stinks. I guess there is no way of letting parents know? What would happen if you sent older kids to the bus stop by themselves?

Call your school to get the transportation number. I have a number 703-446-2000 for FCPS, but it's pretty old. We haven't had recent problems, but in the past they could let you know in minutes what the deal was.

Yeah, it happens. It's happened here too last year.

The bus home for us did not show up until one hr after school let out...we live within 1 mi of the school.

It happens. Last year 27 high schoolers were left standing when the bus passed them by on the first day -- because the bus was already full. Definitely get the transportation phone number.

The first week is full of bus snags. We have had it all in the past few years. Bus on the wrong side of a major street, stop missed completely, not enough room on bus so half the kids had to get back off...just roll with it. Next week will be easier.

UGH! The bus this year has been rocky for us, too. Hopefully, they'll sort it all out soon.
