We're considering getting a Volvo xc60 and have 2 young kids -- one in rear-facing convertible and the other in a 5pt booster (high back). How is the back seat room? We put the car seats in (empty) when we test drove it and I worry that it looked a little tight. Anyone have an xc60? How do your kids fit in the back seats? Anyone using the built-in boosters? If so, what age did you start your kids in them? How do you like the car in general?
Thanks! |
| I love my xc60, it's a fantastic car. Don't be put off by the space, there's actually plenty of it. My LO is still rear facing in a convertible carseat, and it works great. Not tight on space at all. I've also heard great things about the boosters. Where do you plan on buying from, if you don't mind me asking? |
| We have the xc60. We have both the britax chaperone (rear facing) and britax boulevard (convertible) and there is plenty of room. |

Op here --
Thanks. I'm glad to hear that it's spacious. We're bringing our older DD with us to the dealer on Saturday to test her out in the car with her carseat. To 00:11 -- the car we're buying actually has the built in booster seats. (The back seat on each side actual folds into a 2-stage booster, one higher, one lower). My understanding is that once they're out of the 5-pt booster they can sit in them. In the models before the 2012 (we're buying a 2011) built in booster seats are one of the options in the "climate package". Or did you mean where are we buying the car from? |
| Yes, I meant what dealer? I highly recommend Don Beyer Volvo in NoVa. |
| OP and PP - do you think the back seat is wide enough to fit a kid in a backless booster in between the two installed car seats? |
| Yes |
|
OP here. I wondered about that too, whether once DD is old enough for a backless booster if we could fit a friend in the middle in one too.
We are getting it from Don Beyer Volvo as well. DH was very active in the Dean campaign years ago and Don Beyer was as well. He even hosted events at the dealership. So we have an affinity. : ) |
| OP - curious whether you got the xc60 after all. if so, are you happy with it? |
| Reviving this thread -- we're looking at an XC60: any "wish I had knowns" from current owners? (i.e., wish I had known this before buying an XC60 -- specific features you wish you had, for instance?) |
| When we bought ours, it was late in the model year, so we didn't have a lot of choice about features. We do have the park assist system, which is really helpful. Warren Brown's column in today's Washington Post is a review of the XC60. He discusses the reasons to go with the bigger engine vs. stick with the base engine. We have the base engine and it has been fine for us. |
+1 I walked out of Martens because they just weren't getting what I wanted. |
| Thanks for the feedback (2012 PP here): we ended up with a 2012 from Darcars, and it's turning out to be the best Volvo buying experience we've had (this is #5 over many, many years -- first XC60). I like to pass on compliments, so hats off to Darcars! |
| Sorry to but in on really old thread just bought a 2011 xc60 and the new Britax Blvd click tight was too large, and head rest in back interfere with installation, cant find a way to remove head rests. what exact britax style did you buy that worked for you , do you have a picture by chance, Dinino works FF but not rear, 10 month old about to out grow infant carrier, need something realllllyyy soon that will work both FF and rear facing 2, kids, 10 months 20 ponds , 3 years almost 30 pounds, center position isn't ideal for our family. Please help if possible thanks |
I had a 2012 XC60 (just traded it in for an XC90 a couple of weeks ago) with a Britax Boulevard with click tight and didn't have any issue installing it -- is it the front seat headrest that is interfering? |
