How many students are in your child's FCPS elementary school class?

LAst year we had 5 rooms of first graders that had 22-23 each. This year, they turned those 5 classrooms into four classes of 2nd graders... so we have 30 kids in each class. Not happy about it. Waiting to see what kind of assistants/assistance each room will receive.

Kinder classrooms have 28 this year (which is typical); they always have an assistant.

28 in K. Hoping a couple more kids come in, because I believe over that and they have to hire another teacher.

This is our situation. I hypothesized that they reduce in first b/c of learning to read, and in third b/c of SOL testing. Teacher confirmed this. I'm not thrilled about having 30 in second grade, but I can understand the administrative angle of giving the SOL test-takers the smaller classes. I'd make the same decision if I were the principal.

26 in 3rd Grade AAP at our Center. Last year we had 20-22 in each class. We do have the same number of classes for 3rd grade AAP.
