I am flying this weekend with a 2 1/2 year old and 8 month old. Each flight segment is about 90 minutes. I have never flown with both before and am a little nervous. DH will be with us but what should I have in my carry-on? Here's what I am planning so far:
diapers, wipes, plastic bags 1 set extra clothes for each 1 drop-in bottle, extra liners, formula small toys/books What else? Also, do baby purees count as liquid? What about the little 2 oz. pre-mixed formula bottles - am I limited in how many I can bring on? Thanks for any suggestions! |

Snacks for the toddler. Enough to cover a meal if you should get delayed on the runway.
Motrin. Sippy with water for toddler Stickers. My toddler spent 25 minutes (!!) taking the stickers out of the sticker book and sticking them on the barf bag, then re-sticking them in the book. You can bring as much liquidy food/water/formula as you need through security. Just put it all in a big gallon ziploc and send it through in the plastic bin. I bring a sippy full of water for my toddler all the time and have no trouble. |

Enough food/snacks/drinks for everyone to get through a good 8-10 hours, in case you're stuck on the tarmac, don't have time to grab anything between flights, etc.
Also, 1-2 blankets in case the plane is too chilly. A box of matchbox cars for the toddler (a boy?), plus some special snacks, for bribery. When my were toddlers I always brought a number of juice or milk boxes, as well as applesauce and fruit cups, through security w/o issue - the most TSA would do was wipe for bomb residue, but they usually didn't blink. |
| 2 more sets of extra clothes and one for yourself. On one flight to California my toddler wet herself through her diaper and then somehow peed on her backup outfit as I was changing her clothes in the cramped airplane bathroom. She then leaked AGAIN on my lap in outfit #3. Had to wear those pants until I could get my luggage. And I thought I was doing a good job securing her diapers. |
